Aim Higher (You'll Crash Better)

So much to do, so little time... Isn't that always the case? Why is it that you always feel that you don't have as much time as you'd like to do things you want, and later on, when you look back, it turns out that you have even less time then.

Here are some things I'd like to do this summer, or at least get started:

  • Play some music - anything, just get playing again

  • Write some music - it's been at least five years since I've composed anything serious

  • Write a compiler for Floo - which is a programming language I designed this spring for a class

  • Play some computer games - which I've bought in the last couple of years, played for a couple of days and then brutally neglected

  • Bike - I bought myself a new bike (a Trek 7.3 FX Disc, in case anyone's interested) and I'd like to actually ride it quite a lot this summer, which brings me to the next point

  • Get fitter - which I've been trying to do for the last umpteen years

  • Read - I have at least five books waiting for my attention

  • Clean up the apartment ;)

  • ...

And that's just off the top of my head. Let's see what I actually manage to get done. Biking is probably the easiest, since I have to commute anyway, so I can do it by bike - which is why I bought the damn thing in the first place. That should help me get fitter too.. As well as Ultimate Frisbee. I can probably get some music playing done as well, since a band I play in, FM, has a gig booked in August and a couple more in the works. I've just been thinking about playing and composing for the last couple of days, since I had such fun a couple of days ago singing with some of my friends (Matleena, I'm so envious of your voice) and Saara and I just went to see the movie Music and Lyrics, which is totally about writing music.

The compiler is probably the toughest one. I'd like to get some actual work done on it, since it's a possible topic for my pro gradu (master's thesis), which I intend to start next fall. Which reminds me, I should probably contact some professors about that...

Anyway, I'll get back to this list as the summer progresses - if I even manage to keep myself blogging ;)
