A e^x and a 1 were walking down the street, when they saw a derivative approaching. “Help! It'll eat me!” exclaimed the 1 and ran to hide. The e^x, not afraid of the approaching derivative stepped forward in its path and declared “I am e^x, you cannot hurt me!” The derivative, slightly amused, replied “Nice to meet you. I am a derivative, with respect to y.”
